This is just a little announcement to let you know that I’m stepping away from Instagram as Flourish Beauty Art.
I have come to a few realisations recently which essentially boil down to “I’m really stressed. I don’t want to be stressed all the time or feel like I’m running on an empty tank. I’m going to relax once in a while and try to get rid of unnecessary workloads – both personal and professional.”
Having a business account is very different from having a personal account and I’ve felt pressured to put out beautiful pictures and updates every day as well as add to my ‘story’ and finding the time to do that well is causing me a lot of stress.
I don’t remember the last time I sat down to read a chapter of a book, let alone finish one! I want that to change. I need to free up some of my time and coming off Instagram is one of the ways I plan to do that. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves because social media makes it so easy to compare ourselves to other people or other businesses. We need to breathe, sit back, and relax every now and again.
I haven’t made this decision lightly, but I believe it is the best thing for me to do. Because of the global nature of Instagram, most of my followers are not my clients and, therefore, I am putting a lot of work into something that doesn’t support Flourish in the way I would like it to. While in many ways Instagram is amazing, for me and my local little business I feel like it’s not the best way to get my name out to the right people.
Basically, I want to focus on sharing everything I have to offer with my clients, my friends, and those who really matter.
I love my job. I love making people happy by helping them to look and feel beautiful, and giving them somewhere they can go to relax away from everyday life and the stresses that we all feel. Because I am self-employed I essentially do the work of several people: the therapist, the receptionist, the marketing manager, the finance director, the painter and decorator, and the cleaner, to name a few, but I always want my main focus to be on my clients.
I am still going to be on Facebook and post pictures, news, and special offers on there. I am also going to be focussing more on my email newsletters, so my clients and those who want updates will still see them.
Thank you for reading this, and for understanding.
